I remember that I got one of those 1000 cheat code books from my school's book fair back in either 1999 or 2000 and used the "ICHEAT" and "IMSPECIAL" codes in the name menu. The book didn't say anything about a voice popping up so when it did, it scared the SHIT out of me, lol.
