I'm 52 today and this ALL-TIME classic can never go out of style, that FUNK, those vocals & horns. Listening to this is an instant transport back to a time here in Los Angeles where great songs were as plentiful on the radio as the sunny SoCal sun. on any given day.
48', Fav song from album, first the heard from uncle's L.P. when was about 6-7. he had em all. Even cassettes. You to James when family went fishing/B.B.Q. at SilverWood lake SoCal. Mid 80's.
And that’s The Lowdown. I have a beloved aunt, still very much with us, who still insists the only ‘White Music’ worth listening to is Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs.
It’s Jeff Porcaro, isn’t it? When everyone else was playing drums with clubs, he was playing like it was Olympic fencing. This is so far ahead of its time it’s unreal. Nobody sounded like Boz Scaggs for years, decades even. No wonder he quit the Steve Miller Band. A master of the genre-switch, Boz could coolly do ‘Lido Shuffle’ next song up. And oh! Who’s on the drums? Jeff Porcaro.
There will never be another singer to come close to the Boz man. How many guys can say they fell in love with their date at a Boz Scaggs concert at the I.P Casino in Biloxi, Ms. 13 yrs. Ago. When he sings one of his many songs you want to wrap your arms around your Honey and just let the mood take over. There will never be anyone to match his majesty if the love song. (Love look what you done to me)
I was like those Dylan fans that got upset when the Master went electric…when Boz Scaggs started doing THIS afther having done "Somebody loan me a dime" with the boys at Muscle Shoals. But this also is genius as I now understand.
50 years- where did they go? All the strange passages of life: discovery and loss, love and betrayal, kids in diapers dressing 2 minutes later for their wedding…
I was 13 in 1976, an insecure loner. I'm 63 now, with 6 grown kids and 10 grandkids. 2 failed marriages, married 10 years to the third.
I've built things, and I've torn things down. Turned a GED into an MA. Played on stages big and small, always kept a day job.
I could fill a schoolbus with all the people I've loved and lost.
All in all, I'm content with my life. I've let go of the pains of the past. Sometimes I float around on the beautiful memories, but mostly I try to stay in the present.
Until I hear Boz Scaggs or Boston or Fleetwood Mac. Then the distance in time is swept away.
Love this song. I have a print from a winery in my home that lists a musical event and his name is one of the artists featured. Wonderful groove 🎶 🎼. Here 2025 just after Thanksgiving
Love his music ❤❤❤❤❤

Un tema para la eternidad de la buena música
Just a cool song sing it Boz! Good memories!
Who still here 2050
Uncle Shads!!
Jeff Porcaro on drums?
When i first heard this i thought it was Arron Neville. Its such funky and crisp song. Love it ❤
Was watching Breaking Bad, and his name got mentioned, checed it out and yes he's so goodddd.
PSA: put playback speed at .90 for a totally new groove. Anything slower gets washed out with fuzz.
Promise, you’ll love it!
Just saw him at the Kimmel Center in Philly. Nov 2025
Low down .
So good
Those drums at the beginning… Snappin
2025 still listening

Steely Dan understood Boz Scaggs. I think he opened the way for ‘Aja’. Enough said, probably.
The way it just explodes into that nothing 2-note chorus then just beds back down into that hypnotic groove. Pure genius.
😅

I'm from El Paso I used to cruise Memorial Park and ascarate Park in my 65 Impala lowrider listening to that song badass❤
The lyrics are just so cool:
You ain't got to be so bad, got to be so cold
This dog-eat-dog existence sure is getting old
Got to have a Jones for this, Jones for that
This runnin' with the Joneses, boy,
just ain't where it's at.

I remember this from Looking for Mr Goodbar. Love it then and now along with Danger there's a Breakdown Dead Ahead.
Me ❤
