I come here 12 years later to comment my convo with my dog (clouda ☁️) while watching this video and this is how it went:
Me: Oh man!! 😮 I forgot about this music video bro, it’s def before your time but it’s legit the only video that visually represents how my mind process information ℹ️.
Clouda: …
Me: feel me?
Clouda: 🐕 (walks away)
Me: exactly. Exactly my point.

I'm going to be honest; I've never really been a fan of BMTH, and I think this song is one of the main reasons that I decided not to engage more with their music. I want to clarify that it isn't really about the production quality for the band or on their musical style, I personally believe that a lot of bands that I listen today do owe some of their stylings to them (VOLA, Time, the valuator). It really has more to do with two main things: their lyrics never really did resonate with me, and second the sample they used, The Best Is Yet to Come, which is personally one of my favorite themes for a videogame. I get the feeling they wanted to go to by referencing both Shadow Moses and using the melody to set up a haunting tone, but I find it a bit shallow in the sense that it contradicts some of the important themes between the game and the song that could've been engaged. Especially with the original song being about a person exhausted from a life of struggle being led to hope for better things. I would strongly suggest to anyone who listened to this one to hear the original and to play the game if you able to, especially since I really want more people to engage with things beyond just thinking of them as references.
To be fair, I can appreciate how much BMTH has explored different sounds, and they are doing legitimately cool stuff with their collabs with artists, I also find it really cool that they have collaborated with Kojima Productions with their song Ludens and how they seem to be supporting each other to this day. Every now and again I just try to engage with the things I didn't enjoy and have a better understanding of what made me not like something.
THIS IS SEMPITERNAL…fuck 🤯.
