There are other reasons, besides foot pain, to need arch support. If you have flexible flat feet (also called shape shifter feet 😆) it can improve the fit of the shoe. From non-weight bearing to weight bearing, these people can literally go from needing a 9.5 to a size 11.
This is some really dumb shit my god. I cant run without arch support, why? Because my feet are not fn build for it, what can help with that? Taking the strain off the arch, by filling it, dumbass.
I like squat university alot but this advice is definitely not something i would recommend as someone who tried to go barefoot shoes. My lower than natural arc is further caved in an result in my posterior tib tendon being serverely inflamed and now i have to be supported all the time to let it heal. Had i continued wearing barefoot shoots i would had irreversible flat foot damage and lifetime gait impact.
Much as I love the idea of wide soled shoes with room for your toes to splay out, NOBODY makes this stuff in the steel toed work shoes legislation forces me to wear all day at work. So I’m using arch supports; maybe not ideal, but I’m a heckuva lot less crippled since I got a pair.
All I know is that my feet feel great in Altras – a zero drop (mostly flat) shoe with wide toe box. I can run in them or walk all day and NO PAIN. No more Nikes etc. and no stupid arch support insoles!!!!
Interesting video. Does this same apply to my IT band issue caused by inner pronation which pulls my it band tight and it scrapes on the outside of my knee?
