The film is widely regarded as a stunning work of art, earning its place in the lauded halls of Ghibli.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Synopsis<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>14-year-old Seita and his little sister Setsuko lose everything after an American air raid destroys their home: Mother included. Just another set of orphans surrounded by ruin, Seita desperately steals food to barely scrape by in an abandoned bomb shelter, caring for his sister, as hope runs thin.
