AN EASYJET flight to the UK has been forced to make an emergency landing after passengers smelt smoke on board.<\/p>\n

The plane was heading to Bristol<\/a> Airport but had to be suddenly diverted to Turkey<\/a> on Saturday night. <\/p>\n

EasyJet<\/a> confirmed the crew had encountered a technical issue during the flight which caused a “smoke smell”.<\/p>\n

The Airbus<\/a> A320 aircraft had left Paphos\u00a0and was crusing at around 36,000ft when a smoke alarm went off.<\/p>\n

The pilot was forced to make an emergency landing and head to an airport in Izmir just an hour and 20 minutes after it left Cyprus. <\/p>\n

A statement from\u00a0easyJet\u00a0read: “We can confirm that flight EZY2902 from Paphos to\u00a0Bristol\u00a0diverted to Izmir due to a technical issue which resulted in a smoke smell onboard.<\/p>\n

“The aircraft landed safely in Izmir and was met by emergency services as a routine and precautionary measure only.<\/p>\n

“All passengers disembarked as normal into the terminal and were provided with hotel accommodation and meals where required.<\/p>\n

“Passengers will continue to Bristol on a replacement aircraft later today.<\/p>\n

“The safety of our customers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority and easyJet operates its fleet of aircraft in strict compliance with all manufacturers\u2019 guidelines.<\/p>\n

“We would like to thank customers for their understanding and apologise for the inconvenience caused.\u201d<\/p>\n

It comes as The Sun reported last month on a passenger who \u201cwent berserk\u201d at 30,000ft<\/a> in air on board an easyJet flight.<\/p>\n

The man’s actions sparked an emergency landing as he was convinced there were snakes running loose on the plane.<\/p>\n

Families looked on in\u00a0horror<\/a>\u00a0as the flyer became abusive and threatening, and repeatedly screamed, \u201cSnakes on a plane!<\/a>\u00a0We need to land!\u201d<\/p>\n

He was wearing a t-shirt with a snake pattern on it, and suddenly feared the reptiles were\u00a0slithering around the cabin<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Another emergency landing took place on board an easyJet plane when a holiday row over a boy watching The Karate Kid saw a heated passenger bust-up<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0easyJet\u00a0pilot decided to land after two families came to blows over the show.<\/p>\n
