A 36-year-old UK-based Indian man, Arjun Manubhai Patolia, was among the 265 people who lost their lives in the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad<\/a>\u00a0on Thursday. Arjun had come to Gujarat to fulfil his late wife\u2019s last wish. His wife, Bharatiben, had passed away just a week earlier in London. Before dying, she had asked him to take her ashes back to India. So, Arjun returned to his ancestral village, Vadiya, in Amreli district, to immerse her ashes in the Narmada River. Sadly, on his way back to the UK, Arjun boarded the Air India flight that crashed.<\/p>\n After performing his wife\u2019s last rites with family in Vadiya, Gujarat, Arjun Manubhai Patolia was set to return to the UK<\/a> to be with his two young daughters, aged 4 and 8. On Thursday, he boarded Air India flight AI171 to London\u2019s Gatwick Airport. Tragically, the flight crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad.\u201cHe had a ticket for that flight. He was supposed to return to London, but the crash happened,\u201d said his nephew, Krish Jagdish Patolia, to India Today.<\/p>\n The Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 230 passengers<\/a>\u00a0and 12 crew members, crashed into a medical college hostel, killing 265 people. Only one person survived. The plane had 169 Indian and 53 British passengers on board. \u201cIt\u2019s heartbreaking, \u00a0we lost both Arjun and his wife in just one week,\u201d Krish added.<\/p>\n Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the crash site and met injured survivors at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital<\/a> on Friday. A large team of doctors is working on identifying the bodies, and five have been identified so far. Forensic teams are investigating the cause of the crash.
