href=\"https:\/\/www.reallusion.com\/iclone\/motion-capture\/accuface.html\" target=\"_blank\">AccuFace 2<\/a>, the latest version of its AI video mocap plugin for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reallusion.com\/iclone\/\" target=\"_blank\">iClone<\/a>, its character animation software for games, VFX and motion graphics work.<\/p>\n<p>The update introduces a new AI model optimized for the CC5 HD facial expression profile; and improves performance with footage shot in low light levels, or at a distance.<\/p>\n<p>A new Expression Curves System makes it possible to control more precisely how an actor\u2019s facial movements map to those of a 3D character, and the setup process has been streamlined.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the plugin is now GPU-accelerated on AMD as well as NVIDIA GPUs. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Extract facial motion from video of an actor and stream it to a 3D character in iClone<\/strong><br \/>AccuFace (strictly, it\u2019s styled \u2018accuFACE\u2019) extracts facial motion data from footage of an actor \u2013 either a live feed or pre-recorded video \u2013 and streams it to iClone in real time.<\/p>\n<p>It is intended for use with <a href=\"https:\/\/kb.reallusion.com\/Product\/53168\/What-other-types-of-cameras-can-be-used-for-mocap?_gl=1*1ei9xty*_ga*MTIwOTIwNjI1NS4xNjk5MzYyMzg5*_ga_Q3FS71VPKC*MTY5OTM3MDAxMy4yLjEuMTY5OTM3MTExMC41OS4wLjA.\" target=\"_blank\">standard USB webcams or laptop cameras<\/a>, so it can work with relatively low-quality footage: the recommended minimum is 720p resolution and 30fps.<\/p>\n<p>It includes controls for denoising and smoothing the raw animation data, and for adjusting the strength of motion of different regions of the face when retargeting animation to a 3D character.<\/p>\n<p>You can see a comparison with other video mocap solutions for iClone \u2013 both Reallusion\u2019s own, and those from third parties \u2013 in our story on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cgchannel.com\/2023\/11\/reallusion-launches-accuface\/\" target=\"_blank\">AccuFace 1<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AccuFace 2: new AI model optimized for the CC5 HD facial expression profile<\/strong><br \/>Whereas AccuFace 1 was designed for Reallusion\u2019s Character Creator 4 (CC4) characters, AccuFace 2 introduces a new AI model optimized for the HD facial animation profile introduced in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cgchannel.com\/2025\/08\/reallusion-releases-character-creator-5\/\" target=\"_blank\">Character Creator 5<\/a> (CC5).<\/p>\n<p>The changes should particularly improve the quality of mouth animation, with support for \u201cup to 128 lip morphs\u201d on top of the existing support for iClone\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reallusion.com\/iclone\/lipsync-animation.html\" target=\"_blank\">AccuLips<\/a> lip sync system.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Better performance when shooting in low light levels, or from a distance<\/strong><br \/>The new model should also performs better on footage or live feeds captured under conditions that are traditionally difficult for AI mocap.<\/p>\n<p>AccuFace now automatically boosts gamma values if the source is captured under low light levels, particularly when tracking actors with dark skin tones.<\/p>\n<p>It also copes better if an actor\u2019s face only occupies a small region of the frame: for example, when doing both full-body and facial capture from a single video source.<\/p>\n<p>And that region really <em>can<\/em> be small \u2013 according to Reallusion, AccuFace 2 can work from a region of the frame just 120 x 120px in size.<\/p>\n<p class=\"full-width\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cgchannel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/260731_AccuFace2_ExpressionCurve-960x480.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"480\" class=\"aligncenter size-cgc_full_width wp-image-177756\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cgchannel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/260731_AccuFace2_ExpressionCurve.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.cgchannel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/260731_AccuFace2_ExpressionCurve-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Expression curves fine tune the mapping of an actor\u2019s facial movements to 3D character<\/strong><br \/>Another key change is the new Expression Curves System, for controlling how an actor\u2019s facial movements map to those of the 3D character.<\/p>\n<p>Whereas AccuFace 1 used linear mapping, AccuFace 2 provides curve controls, making it possible to control mapping more precisely.<\/p>\n<p>It is also now possible to have a single tracking single drive multiple morphs on the 3D character, making it easier to create realistic follow-through by driving secondary animations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Support for AMD as well as NVIDIA GPUs<\/strong><br \/>The set-up process has also been simplified: unlike the original release, AccuFace 2 doesn\u2019t require an absolute full-face neutral pose, or to be recalibrated for each new actor.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, AccuFace is now GPU-accelerated on AMD as well as NVIDIA GPUs: whereas AccuFace 1 was NVIDIA-only, version 2 is compatible with the AMD Radeon RX 5700 and above.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Supported in iClone 8.74 and above<\/strong><br \/>In related news, Reallusion has released <a href=\"https:\/\/discussions.reallusion.com\/t\/iclone-8-74-is-now-released-accuface-2-compatibility-expression-mapping-and-bug-fixes\/18056\" target=\"_blank\">iClone 8.74<\/a>, the latest version of the software.<\/p>\n<p>The main change is support for AccuFace 2\u2019s new features, but there are also fixes to FBX export and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reallusion.com\/iclone\/live-link\/unreal-engine\/default.html\" target=\"_blank\">Unreal live link<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Price and system requirements<\/strong><br \/>AccuFace 2 is compatible with iClone 8.74+. Version 2 has a MSRP of $299 \u2013 down $200 from the original release \u2013 although at the time of writing, it is available at a launch discount.<\/p>\n<p>iClone is compatible with Windows 10+. A perpetual license of the full edition costs $599.
