A few days ago I was fortunate to visit three Automotive Museums in Monaco. Two permanent, and one temporary exhibition. It was a great opportunity to revisit the connection between the Principality and the automotive world. Here is a selection of my favourites of the Shows.<\/p>\n

\"\"Renault KJ1 Coach (1922). Maximum speed: 60 km\/h<\/em><\/p>\n

1. HSH Prince of Monaco\u2019s car collection<\/strong><\/p>\n

A lover and enthusiast of beautiful cars, Prince Rainier III (1923-2005) built up, over more than forty years, according to opportunities, \u201cfavourites\u201d and circumstances, a considerable and private collection of vintage vehicles. <\/span>He has collected and restored some 100 cars, a wide sample of models built by the biggest manufacturers in the United States and Europe: \u201c<\/span>It is not a car museum but a personal collection of old cars of all ages and from all countries. Popular or prestigious, they marked their era and I liked them<\/span><\/i>.\u201d <\/span>Prince Albert II (1958-) continued to enhance the private collection begun by Prince Rainier III.<\/span><\/p>\n

Maximum speed: 190 km\/h<\/em>\"\"Nash-Healey Cabriolet (1952), Facel II Coup\u00e9 (1963), Mercedes 220 SE Cabriolet (1963)<\/em>
\"\"Rover Metro 6R4 (1985). Weight: 1040 kg<\/em>\"\"Lamborghini Countach LP 500 QV (1986). Maximum speed: 296 km\/h<\/em>\"\"Bugatti Chiron pur sport (2016). 0-100 km\/h in 2.3 sec, 0-400 km\/h in 36.6 sec<\/em>
\"\"Renault 5 Turbo 3EB Prototype (2025). 1980 examples only, 0-100 km in 3.5 seconds<\/em>\"\" \"\"<\/p>\n

And my favourite of the entire Collection: the Ferrari F80 (2025), achieving 0-100 km\/h in 2.15 seconds and 0-200 km\/h in 5.75 seconds. It will set you back at least \u20ac3.6 million. However the\u00a0price for original allocation holders routinely exceeds \u20ac4 to \u20ac5 million once owners add custom Tailor-Made options, paint finishes, and country-specific luxury taxes.<\/p>\n

2. Museum of Monaco streets<\/strong><\/p>\n

The streets of Monaco are a museum of their own, with amateurs travelling specifically to the country to admire the many luxury vehicles roaming the grounds. Here is snapshot of my favourite encounters.<\/p>\n

3. Exhibition Monaco and the Automobile, from 1893 to the present day<\/strong><\/p>\n

This summer from July 1st to September 6th, the Grimaldi Forum Monaco hosts a fantastic exhibition tracing the unique relationship that has united the Principality and the automobile for more than a century. I strongly recommend this exhibition if you happen to be in the area for summer. Here is a selection of my favourites.<\/p>\n
