One owner posted a video of this behavior to <a href=\"https:\/\/go.skimresources.com?id=111346X1569486&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https:\/\/x.com\/Cartidise\/status\/2101654941727412667&amp;xcust=1-0-3240287-1-0-0-0-0&amp;sref=https:\/\/www.macworld.com\/article\/3240287\/iphone-18-pro-owners-report-two-serious-bugs-causing-freezes-and-restarts.html\" rel=\"nofollow\" data-subtag=\"1-0-3240287-1-0-0-0-0\" data-domain-name=\"x\" target=\"_blank\">Twitter\/X<\/a>; their thumb appears to swipe up and down on the display (while using a social media app, possibly Twitter), yet nothing happens in response.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x\"\/>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a commenter on the post claimed that this is a bug in iOS 27 rather than the iPhone 18 Pro, and that the poster \u201cswiped down both Notification Center and Control Center at the same time which causes the phone to freeze,\u201d the poster responded that they didn\u2019t \u201cexploit any bug\u201d and that the problem has happened twice already. Then they link to a second user reporting the same issue.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"jwPlayer--floatingContainer\" role=\"complementary\" data-nosnippet=\"\">\n<\/aside>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019ve also seen a similar complaint about touch sensitivity on <a href=\"https:\/\/go.skimresources.com?id=111346X1569486&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/iphone18pro\/comments\/1wlo3cw\/anyone_else_having_issues_with_touch_sensitivity\/&amp;xcust=1-0-3240287-1-0-0-0-0&amp;sref=https:\/\/www.macworld.com\/article\/3240287\/iphone-18-pro-owners-report-two-serious-bugs-causing-freezes-and-restarts.html\" rel=\"nofollow\" data-subtag=\"1-0-3240287-1-0-0-0-0\" data-domain-name=\"reddit\" target=\"_blank\">Reddit<\/a>, although this might have a different cause; the owner mentions use of a screen protector.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"face-id-bug\">Face ID bug<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alleged bug number two: a Face ID bug has caused some iPhone 18 Pro handsets to freeze and then reboot. What appears to happen is that when a Face ID verification fails, the behavior triggers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/go.skimresources.com?id=111346X1569486&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/iphone18pro\/comments\/1wkl0ta\/panic_restarting_iphone18pro_max\/&amp;xcust=1-0-3240287-1-0-0-0-0&amp;sref=https:\/\/www.macworld.com\/article\/3240287\/iphone-18-pro-owners-report-two-serious-bugs-causing-freezes-and-restarts.html\" rel=\"nofollow\" data-subtag=\"1-0-3240287-1-0-0-0-0\" data-domain-name=\"reddit\" target=\"_blank\">thread on Reddit<\/a> contains the following complaint: \u201cNot even 24 hours and I have my 18 Pro Max panic restarting. Three times due to Face ID and one by some timeout (whilst loading Apple Wallet). Called Apple support, done a Face ID reset after three restarts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of the 24 direct responses from other users, 22 confirm that they\u2019ve experienced the same or a similar issue. Some speculate (as we saw with the touch sensitivity bug) that it could be an issue with iOS 27 or other software rather than the new hardware.
