Planning a family holiday in Bali? You’re in the right place.
We’ve been travelling to Bali with our kids since 2012. Back then, they were little. Now they’re teenagers — and somehow, Bali still manages to impress them. That’s the thing about this island. It grows with your family.
Whether you’re visiting Bali for the first time with kids or you’re coming back for another family holiday, there is always something new to discover alongside the old favourites you keep returning to. Finding both is kind of our thing.
This guide covers the best things to do in Bali with kids. From waterparks and beach clubs to cultural experiences and adventure days. These are the activities we’d recommend to any family travelling to Bali, tried and tested over more than a decade of family trips.
Travelling with kids under 5? Check out our blog post on things to do in Bali with toddlers and babies
A Quick Note on Booking Ahead
For some of the bigger activities like Waterbom, popular day trips and tours, booking online in advance can save you time and sometimes money. That said, plenty of things on this list you can simply show up for.
Planning a Bali holiday with kids shouldn’t feel like a full-time job! Do you need help deciding on what to do in Bali with kids? I’m offering free, personalised help to families planning their Bali holidays. You’ll book everything yourself (so you stay in control) and I’ll send you the best options based on what actually works for your family. Spots are limited each week. Click the link below to apply.
Top 10 Things to Do in Bali With Kids
Short on time? Here are our family’s favourite things to do in Bali with kids:
- Waterbom Bali
- AeroXSpace Bali
- Trans Studio Bali
- Bali Safari and Marine Park
- Nusa Lembongan Day Trip
- Spend a day at a Beach club
- Cooking class

When choosing activities in Bali with kids, think about what your family actually enjoys. There’s no point in planning long day trips if your kids get carsick or struggle with long drives.
Don’t plan big activities every day. It will wear both you and the kids out very quickly.
My Bali planning tip for families:
- Keep your first full day and last full day as chill days at your hotel or villa
- Space out day trips and bigger activities across your holiday
- Avoid overpacking your days; less really is more in Bali
Also, keep in mind that Bali traffic can be painful, especially during peak times, so always allow extra travel time when planning your days.

Mount Batur Sunrise Hike
If you’ve got kids aged 10+ who love a bit of adventure, hiking Mount Batur for sunrise is an unforgettable experience. I did the hike with Klook back in 2019, and while it was definitely hard work, it’s achievable for most reasonably fit families.
The experience starts early with hotel pick-up around 2 am depending on where you are staying but reaching the summit in time for sunrise makes it all worth it.
- Guided sunrise hike
- Incredible views from the top
- Light breakfast at the summit
- A real “bucket list” Bali experience
It’s a big day (you’ll usually be back at your hotel around 12:30 pm), but one that older kids will absolutely remember.
Tip: Wear proper walking shoes or runners and bring a light jacket; it can be surprisingly cold at the top while waiting for sunrise. And just remember, the tour guides can’t control the weather! You may get to the top, and it may be cloudy as the eye can see!

Why It’s Great for Families

Devdan Show vs Kecak Dance: Which is Better with Kids?
Trying to decide between the Kecak Dance Uluwatu and the Devdan Show Bali? Here’s a simple breakdown to help you choose what suits your family best:
Choose Kecak Dance at Uluwatu if:
- You want an authentic cultural experience
- You love a dramatic sunset setting
- Your kids are a bit older and can handle crowds and waiting
- You’re happy with a more basic, traditional performance style
Choose Devdan Show if:
- You want an easy, stress-free night out
- Your kids prefer fast-paced entertainment
- You want air-conditioning and comfortable seating
- You’d rather avoid crowds and logistics
My Honest Mum-to-Mum Verdict
If you’re travelling with younger kids or want a more relaxed experience, the Devdan Show is the clear winner.
If your family is happy to brave the crowds for something uniquely Balinese, then the Kecak Dance at Uluwatu Temple is still worth experiencing at least once.

More Fun Activities with Kids in Bali
There’s so much more to enjoy in Bali with kids beyond the big attractions. From relaxing spa treatments and indulgent Sunday brunches to fun high tea experiences and making your own perfume, these are the little extras that make a Bali family holiday feel easy, special and memorable.
Best Spas in Bali with Kids
No Bali family holiday is complete without a Balinese massage or hair braiding for the kids. From massages to manicures, there are so many affordable spa options across Bali, making it an easy treat for the whole family.
Loyalty Kids Spa Bali is such a lovely experience for families. Located in Seminyak, this spa is designed for kids, making them feel special while enjoying fun, age-appropriate treatments. It’s perfect for a parent/child pamper day and a great way to spend some quality time together on your Bali holiday.

Whether you want to sit back with a foot massage and coffee while your child gets their hair braided or enjoy a treatment together, it’s a really memorable experience.
Tip: It’s recommended to book in advance, especially during peak travel periods.
Hair Braiding in Bali (Our Recommendation)
Hair braiding is always a highlight for the kids on a Bali holiday and we’ve had some great experiences over the years. We highly recommend Ellyeyelastext, run by Elly. She has a spa based in Legian but the best part is she can come directly to your villa or hotel, which makes it so much easier especially as some of the more detailed braids can take a few hours. You can contact her on WhatsApp at +62 819 3618 3610 to book.
You will also find that many resort spas offer hair braiding services. We had braids done by the lady around the pool at Padma Resort Legian and it was so easy to organise while we relaxed. The prices were very reasonable and you can find more details in our full review of Padma Legian.
Hair braiding prices in Bali typically start from around IDR 200,000 for simple Dutch braids and can go up to around IDR 750,000 for more detailed styles with colour and extensions. For the more complicated braids, I recommend booking someone to come to your villa or hotel room, as they can take up to 3 hours to complete.
It’s also worth thinking about when you’ll take them out. Doing it on your last day can be a good idea or the kids might love heading back to school with their Bali braids still in!

Big Garden Corner Sanur
Bali Garden Corner is one of those hidden little gems that doesn’t always make the usual Bali lists, but it’s such an easy outing with kids.
The gardens are lush and beautifully set out, with interactive sculptures scattered throughout that make it really fun to explore.
- Photo spots like bird nests, swings and sculptural seating
- Peaceful garden setting
- Small water play area
- Climbable treehouse for kids
It’s a great mix of nature, play and something a little different.
Entry is around IDR 150,000 per person and includes a tasting experience, which is a nice bonus.
- Honey tasting (from Sumatran bees, quite different and worth trying)
- Tea and coffee samples (served in small tasting cups)
Tip: This is a great “in-between” activity. Not too big, not too busy and easy to combine with other Sanur plans.

- If you want a relaxed, scenic pool day, I’d go with Jungle Fish Bali. The jungle views are just beautiful, and it’s such an easy place to unwind with kids.
- If you’re after something more activity-based for the older kids, then Titi Batu Ubud Club is the better choice.

Tip on visiting Beach Clubs with kids: Minimum spends, age limits and inclusions change often, so always check ahead before visiting. Also, check prior to going via social media to see if they are open; sometimes private events or renovations will close the clubs.
Mum tip: Pick one or two beach clubs for your trip, you don’t need to do them all!
Day Passes to Bali Resorts for Families
A Bali resort day pass can be a fantastic way to enjoy pools, beach access and kids’ facilities without staying overnight but it’s important to know that not all resorts offer them.
In fact, many of the larger family resorts do not allow outside guests to use their pool or kids’ facilities, even though you can still visit for restaurants or spa treatments.
While availability changes often, these are some of the more reliable options to check:
- Club Med Bali Nusa Dua
- Movenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran
- Hilton Bali Resort Nusa Dua
- Padma Resort Legian
- Padma Resort Ubud
- Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Kuta
- Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa
- Prama Sanur Beach Bali
- Komune Resort and Beach Club Keramas
- Merusaka Nusa Dua
Important Tip: Day passes in Bali are not always advertised online and their availability can change frequently.
Your best approach is to:
- Contact the resort directly via WhatsApp
- Check the resort’s recent social media posts
- Or ask at reception on the day
Mum tip: If you’re specifically wanting pools + kids clubs, it’s often easier (and better value) to book a night or two at a family resort instead of relying on day pass availability.

Best Island Day Trips with Kids
If you’re looking to add something a little different to your Bali itinerary, island day trips are a fantastic option with kids, especially if they love the ocean.
One of our absolute favourites is Nusa Lembongan. It’s an easy trip from Bali and perfect for families, with calm waters, beautiful beaches and plenty of activities to enjoy.
We recommend staying on Nusa Lembongan to really experience all that this beautiful island has to offer! Check out our Nusa Lembongan with kids guide.
You can book all-inclusive day tours that include:
- Return boat transfers
- Snorkelling or water activities
- Island tours
- Lunch
You can also explore nearby islands like Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Penida, which offer incredible views and great snorkelling spots.
Tip: While Nusa Lembongan is very family-friendly, overland day trips to Nusa Ceningan and especially Nusa Penida are better suited to older kids, as the roads can be quite rough and travel times longer.
