Riding really isn’t that dangerous, especially if you assume people are going to do stupid shit. Personally if I see a car in the turning lane I down shift and cover the brakes so I can hit gas and swerve or brake in time.

I dont know where the street lights go after the first fraction of a second in the video, but at the very beginning you can see he has a yellow light. Yes, there is nothing illegal about making a turn on a yellow light, just as long as you've entered the intersection before the light turns red. That being said…he was on the throttle fairly aggressively in what looks to be a pretty busy area, so I would assume he was trying to beat the light. That other car looks like they were trying to turn into the empty right-turn lane of oncoming traffic and they are definitely the main cause of this accident…who knows what was going on with them.
