The newest drought monitor update is in as of this morning. Similarly to last week, the vast majority of the state remains drought free. However, there has been a slight increase in the area and severity of drought conditions over southeast Alabama. Approximately 2.16% of the state (confined to SE AL) is now in a level 2 moderate drought, with 7.43% of the state in a level 1 minor drought. Luckily, additional rainfall is expected over the next several days, with some areas over SE AL seeing potentially more than 2″ of rain.
