Many will recognise this drawing and its style. For those who don’t, it is the exact hand-drawn and painted sketch created by Gerald Genta at the inception of this watch’s design.
Alexia backed up what Stigliani had shared, but crucially, the existence of this sketch confirms that the watch was commissioned by Gerald Genta from Gianni Bulgari.
With the sketch in front of me and the watch on my wrist, the stance is impossible to look past: 35mm wide by 25mm tall, lug width 22mm tapering to 16mm at the buckle.
Combined with the use of negative space throughout the dial, it wears more like a sculptural cuff than a watch.
