Todd Blanche Stole the Justice Due Becca Good and Gave It to Katie Miller

There was a telling legal split screen yesterday.

In Minnesota, the family of Renee Good rolled out two lawsuits (wrongful death, Klan Act) to avenge Renee’s death.

In Massachusetts, DOJ rolled out that arrest of a guy, John Anthony Proia, for harassing Katie Miller and her parents.

Proia allegedly contacted Katie via cycling phone numbers 40 times over 51 days, and left mean messages asking Katie’s parents if it disturbed them that Katie was married to someone as evil as Stephen.

a.    “Good morning [first name of victim’s mother].  Does it disturb you that such evil as [Federal Official] is married to the creature that slithered from your Cunt?”

b.    [Photo of Victim 1]

c.    “My god, how can you be proud of this filth?”

d.    “Hey [first name of victim’s father], how goes it?  Hope your daughter marrying a Jewish Nazi/white supremacist is working out for you and [first name of victim’s mother].  Did you raise her to be trash or did that just happen naturally?”

Todd Blanche announced Proia’s arrest, claiming that anyone who engaged in such harassment would be arrested.

That’s a vicious lie, of course.

Deep in the Goods’ Klan Act lawsuit (it bears the last name of Renee’s brother, who is the executor of her estate) — which names Stephen Miller, along with Jonathan Ross and Greg Bovino and Kristi Noem, as the conspirators who deprived Renee and other Minnesotans of their rights — lies the proof that’s bullshit: A description of the harassment Becca Good suffered after Ross first shot Renee dead and left her to bleed out while Becca watched, after which Trump and Noem publicly slandered Renee.

196. Defendants’ public campaign against her and Renee, as pled below, compounded the injury. Because senior federal officials, including the President and Defendant Noem, publicly branded Renee a terrorist and a criminal within hours of her death (as discussed below), Becca lost her privacy along with her partner and has been made to relive the killing as a subject of national argument. She has received continuous threats. She was unable to live in her home for more than a month, has hired security staff to protect it, and has installed a security system and window film.

The entire Klan Act lawsuit describes how Stephen sent masked men into Minnesota on the pretext of hunting down Somalis — whom he and Katie had dehumanized for years — to deprive everyone there of their civil rights.

And it led, inexorably, to Renee’s death and that flood of harassment of Becca.

As the lawsuit lays out, Todd Blanche specifically deprived Renee and Becca of their rights. On Blanche’s order, DOJ covered up Renee’s killing.

24. As the federal government branded Renee a terrorist and declared that Ross had done nothing wrong, it moved to hide the evidence of what actually occurred on Portland Avenue. On the morning of the shooting, the FBI and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (“BCA”) agreed to a joint investigation, as is standard in officerinvolved deaths. By that evening the United States Attorney had reversed course; BCA investigators were excluded from the interviews at the Whipple Federal Building, denied the names of the officers involved, and cut off from the vehicle and its contents, the shell casings, and the firearm. Renee and Becca’s car was removed from the scene before local investigators could process it. The Deputy Attorney General, Todd Blanche, announced: “We investigate when it’s appropriate to investigate. And that is not the case here. . . . So no, we are not investigating.” Numerous federal prosecutors resigned, and an FBI agent resigned after being pressured to abandon a civil rights inquiry into Ross in favor of an investigation of Becca instead.

As the suit and scores of stories make clear, everyone loses from Blanche’s selective application of the law. FBI Agent Tracee Mergen quit when Blanche and others ordered her to treat Renee and Becca as criminals rather than victims, as did at least six prosecutors. Minnesota US Attorney Dan Rosen dropped at least four drug trafficking cases so he could hunt down those Stephen Miller and Todd Blanche and Pam Bondi told him to. Even the fraud cases that were the pretext of this invasion — fraud cases worked for years under Joe Biden — wallowed.

And the same happened when Blanche ordered his minions to prioritize Katie Miller’s needs over far more serious criminals. FBI demoted two senior counterterrorism officials, just days before a suspected terrorist dry run in the UK for which the US gave the Brits no advance warning.

I don’t think Katie’s parents should be harassed because their daughter helped the richest man in the world kill hundreds of thousands — what will ultimately be millions — of mostly brown people, mostly children; because their son-in-law has serially murderboated hundreds of times, because their son-in-law sent masked thugs into Minnesota who killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti, leaving them to bleed out in the street.

But I do think Todd Blanche should stop lying about applying justice equally for both Becca Good and Katie Miller.

He refuses to do that. And it makes everyone less safe.
