JAM Hotels are built around the idea of repurposing distinctive, historic buildings and basically giving them a new lease of life. JAM Ghent
JAM Hotel in Ghent opened its doors in 2025. Located at Leopoldskazerne, it is a restored former military barracks in Ghent’s Arts Quarter. With 108 rooms designed by Atelier Lionel Jadot together with Belgian makers the hotel has an ‘artist workshop’ feel, with high ceilings, original features, beautiful arches, and a stunning colourful, contemporary design.
We were drawn to JAM Ghent becuase of its quirky design, amazing location and access to parking for a VW T5 campervan. The first thing to note was the hotel staff were really responsive and helpful, answering all of our questions beforehand, particularly with regards to parking and registration of our vehicle for the Ghent low emission zone.

There is limited on-site private parking here with JAM Ghent offering a number of spaces in a private underground garage for €19 per night. You can reserve parking by emailing the JAM Hotel team in advance of your stay. Please note JAM Ghent and the nearby public garages sit inside Ghent’s Low Emission Zone.
Rooms at JAM Ghent
The rooms at JAM Ghent are beautifully designed. The hotel offers family rooms with air-conditioning, private bathrooms, and modern amenities. Each room includes a work desk, TV, and free WiFi. There are rooms of various sizes for all needs. Choose from rooms for 2 people, 3, 4, 5 or 6. We had to book two rooms due to availability at the time of our stay. Our room slept 2 and our second room slept 3) This wasn’t the most cost effective stay, but we had our hearts set on staying here for just one night at the end of our Netherlands holiday.

Our ‘HYPER’ room had three bed, this included a 160x200cm double bed (in mezzanin rooms on its very own gallery) and an 90x200cm single bed. There was also a private bathroom with a shower. The ‘EXTRA’ rooms sleep 2, and have a 160x200cm double bed, with a private bathroom offering a shower.
Every room is built with sustainability and comfort in mind, and is fully equipped with TV, coffee machine, kettle and AC.

JAM Ghent REVIEW: Final Thoughts
We stayed one night on our way through from The Netherlands to Calais ferry port. We were looking for a unique boutique family friendly hotel with access to private parking and a short stroll into Ghent. The hotel was absolutely perfect for our stay. Booking two separate rooms to accomodate our family of five made it a pricey option but we loved the hotel, its design and its location. The staff were lovely and friendly. They were responsive to email enquiries, and helpful throughout our stay. We would absolutely recommend staying here if you are visiting Ghent.
