after watching his piano videos, i sit and play the same chord progressions and it sounds like a kindergartener playing the recorder for the first time compared to him
– Flat 3 (bIII) and Flat 2 (bII) are major chords borrowed from C minor and C Phrygian (a different minor mode) and we call this borrowing of chords from other C scales Modal Interchange
– Diatonic = chords and notes that exist in the key we are in. So walking up or down diatonically means simply using the normal chords and notes we’d expect in this key
– ”Perfects” aka perfect cadences = resolving down in 5ths, with dominant 7 chords. In the video he goes G7 -> C7 -> F. A common way to resolve chords and get to where you’re tryna go.
– ”Plagals” aka plagal cadences = resolving down in 4ths. Common in gospel music.
I'm trying to practice it since all the notations are there, but it's incredibly difficult if I don't play some of the treble notes with my left fingers to complete the chord.
going down in whole steps was the most inspiring – then nearly getting 'dark' rather than comfortable. Either way – perfectly executed. Thank You too, Mr Bass Man
Answer me this question: How can Bob keep up so effectively? These videos have such ease and grace. It seems like you are all just chillin’ smooth as can be.

I don't understand why you don't have the actual transcriptions of what you're playing? That F isn't at all what I'm hearing when I play it
E7 had me feeling things
I want to cry
Well done. A modern version of Bach's beautiful "exercises."

Would love to be the drummer in these shorts. Just chillin in the background with a couple of brushes while enjoying the music 😊
This stuff is really great for making stuff that feels complicated and confusing accessible to musicians who aren’t the best at theory (me)
