The 1971 No.8 Citizen dealer catalog introduces various new models and you can see the continuing evolution of the range. At the start of the catalog is a four page supplement for July 1971. Starting the supplementary models are a pair of the first men’s IC-12 models, the 0702-21 with an 18K yellow gold case and the 0700-21 with a 14K white gold case. The IC-12 was first introduced in May 1970 in ladies models, and was the first domestically produced women’s three-hand electronic watches to use an IC. The IC-12 utilized the calibre 5800 and was named due to its 12-beat (43,200 bph) balance motor, resulting in a high precision equivalent to a chronometer-grade watch.
