Today, I decided to cook mango for baby. Mango is a wonderful, very flavorful tropical fruit that baby can start eating during food diversification from 6 months old.
Mango pairs beautifully with banana and orange together, perfect for a compote! Baby is really going to enjoy all these flavors.
This fruit blend is packed with vitamins, and the different textures will give our baby compote a wonderfully smooth final texture.
Here is what you need to make this mango, orange, and banana compote recipe (from 6 months):
Ingredients
Preparation

We start with the mango. First, to check whether it is ripe, slide a finger over the skin of your mango. If it gives slightly all along the area you touch, your mango is ripe!
Wash it well. Now we are going to peel it, and here is a waste-free tip:
- Cut the mango in half
- Remove the pit
- Slide each mango half along the rim of a glass so the skin separates from the flesh
Here is what it looks like in pictures. It is often easier than 1,000 explanations 😉

Then cut the mango flesh into pieces.

Place these mango pieces in the steamer basket. Next, prepare the banana. Peel it, remove all the little strings, and cut it into fairly thick slices so they do not fall apart during cooking.

Cooking
Place the banana slices with the mango pieces in the steamer basket, then start cooking. I cooked them for 2 minutes under pressure in the Cookeo; allow about 5 minutes for regular steaming. Let’s go!
Meanwhile, prepare the orange. Wash it (yes, really! We are going to handle it before squeezing it, so it is important to remove any dirt), then cut it in half. Squeeze the orange to get 3 1/2 tablespoons (50 ml) of orange juice, making sure no seeds fall in.

Once the fruits are cooked, place them in the blender with the orange juice and blend! Then refrigerate for about 2 hours before serving this mango, orange, and banana compote to baby. They are going to love it!
